EXCLUSIVE: ASUU Chapters Await Directive From NEC Over Strike Call-Off
The various chapters of the Academic Staff Union of Universities are awaiting an order from the National Executive Council of the Union over call-Off of the Months long strike embarked upon by the Union.
This Newspaper gathered that the strike action is hinging towards call-Off this week after a Thursday meeting with the Federal government .
Chapter chairmen who spoke with this newspaper noted that while the meeting has been held , they are on standby waiting for the directive of the National Executive Council before returning to classes.
A branch Chairman who does not want his name in the Press said
“We are waiting for orders from the National Executive Council and also information from them” when asked about return to classes.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities reached an agreement with the Federal government yesterday after a protracted disagreement on funding and members welfare.
Feelers within the Union has it that the lecturers may call off their strike this weekend barring any last minute delay.
