The Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, Ikeokwu Godson Orlando, has spoken extensively to EXCEL BREAKING NEWS on what the state Police command is doing to forestall further crisis in the state.
According to him, there is a new commissioner of Police in the state and he has taken stock of security development in the state.
“We have a new commissioner of Police who has put in place new operational standards and is committed to securing Imo state” Orlando noted.
He expressed commitment of the Police in Imo to repose confidence in Imo citizens toward seeing the police as their own
“We are working on ensuring that Imolites are confident in the Police, we want them to see the Police as their own and also work with them”
Orlando revealed that Policemen in the state have been undergoing training in batches toward improving their professionalism.
He cited the detaining and dismissal of Policemen captured on camera molesting civilians as a “writing on the wall” showing commitment of the new police commissioner to enshring discipline in the state.
He also noted that more is being done by the Police to securing Imo state.
This development is coming on the backheel of clashes between Soldiers and Locals in the state.
