The English premier league returned after the international break as Game day 5 produced some interesting results.
The weekend began with the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison park. The game ended 2-2, both sides sharing the points. The visitors, Liverpool, got off to a flying start as Sadio Mane gave to reds the lead in the 3rd minute. Everton equalized through defender Michael Keane. Mohammed Salah restored the lead for Klopp’s men but in-form Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalized to make things square. The game ended in controversy as Jordan Henderson’s late goal was ruled for offside by VAR.
In the second match of the weekend, Chelsea drew 3-3 with Southampton at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard’s men were hoping to build upon the win over crystal Pala ce. The blues took the lead through Timo Werner, after a clever run from the German who got onto a neat pass from Kai Havertz to score his 1st premier league goal. Werner netted the blues second, before Danny Ings pulled one back for the Saints. Adams scored to square things up before Havertz restored the lead for the Blues. Dannik Vestergaard equalized for the Saints in stoppage time.
In the other game of the day, Manchester City got back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Arsenal. Raheem Sterling scoring the only goal of the game.
The last match of the day, was Newcastle against Manchester United, which ended 1-4 in favour of United.
