Emir Sanusi Never Said Nigeria On Verge of Bankruptcy- FG
The Nigerian Federal Government through the Accountant General of the Federation,Idris Ahmed has clarified the statement allegedly made by Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi. In a Press statement by the Deputy Press Director to the Accountant General , Henshaw Ogubuike, the government clarified that while the revered Emir truly commented on the Nigerian economy, he only advised gradual removal of Fuel Subsidy so as to give room for other infrastructural and economic development , the statement said.
The Federal Government highlighted that the Royal Father was quoted out of context.
The statement credited to the Emir had drawn wide spread comments from diverse ends.
While many called on the Federal Government to act on the advise,others expressed concern on the aftermath of Fuel subsidy removal.
Emir Sanusi was once the Nigerian central bank Governor before his crowning as the King of Kano.
He is known to be a fierce economic advisor and critic of different financial policies.
