Election: Nigerians Should Emulate Edo Voters- Kukah

 

 

Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Nigeria has applauded the people of Edo State, Nigeria for their conduct in the Saturday governorship election in the state.

He said that their disposition during the election is something the entire country should emulate.

“The way they conducted themselves and I think in every sense of the word, they left us a legacy of efficiency”, the Bishop said.

Bishop Kukah being a member of the National Peace Committee stated that they worked very closely with Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and commends INEC chairman for a good job in the election. In the same note, the Catholic Bishop thanked the Inspector General of Police for ensuring peace throughout the hours of the election.

Bishop Kukah restated that the Edo State citizens should receive the highest applaud because they are the ones that stood steadfast and committed to a peaceful election.

Bishop Kukah pointed out that democracy is yet to take its full shape in Nigeria. He explained that in real fact, Nigeria is dealing with feudal system that is locked up to agencies and ideologies that have no relationship with democracy.
