Egyptian Olympic Wrestler Arrested in Paris for Alleged Sexual Assault

Egyptian Olympic wrestler Mohamed ‘Kesho’ Ibrahim has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting another customer at a Paris cafe.

According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, the 24-year-old wrestler was taken into custody around 5am outside the Oz cafe for reportedly touching another customer’s buttocks.

The Egyptian Olympic Committee (EOC) confirmed Kesho’s arrest and announced that he will face an investigation by its ethics committee. If found guilty, Kesho could face a life ban from competition.

“The EOC takes these allegations very seriously,” the committee said in a statement. “If substantiated, the wrestler will face permanent suspension and will be barred from participating in both domestic and international competitions.”

Kesho, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games, was competing in the men’s 67kg Greco-Roman wrestling event at the Olympics. He was defeated by Azerbaijan’s Hasrat Jafarov in the first round on Wednesday.

The EOC stated that Kesho had been given permission to leave the Egyptian camp to watch the final of his weight category but failed to return and turned off his phone.

Excel Magazine International gathered that an investigation is ongoing.
