Ebonyi APC Chairman Emegha Disputes Complicity In The Shooting And Fatalities At Ekoli Edda
Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, the special security consultant to the state government and the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ebonyi State, has claimed that he did not start the shootings in the state’s Ekoli Edda, Afikpo South Local Government Area.
According to Excelbreakingnews, his younger brother was killed in the purported shooting in the neighborhood, and unidentified shooters also set fire to his homes and vehicles. When the thugs attacked, they also killed a police officer and a youth leader.
Emegha referred to the reports in some media outlets that he was blowing sirens and firing randomly, which led to the killings, as cruel, untrue, and mischievous.
After meeting with the local elders and traditional leaders, he proceeded to inspect a town hall he was building for the people and pondered why he was connected to the shootings in the neighborhood that began in Ameke village.
According to his opinion, the traditional leaders cleared him of the shootings in front of Governor David Umahi.
However, the APC chairman voiced trust in the state’s security services, saying they will discover the truth and hold those responsible for the mayhem accountable.
Emegha praised Governor David Umahi for his prompt action and calm leadership, which, in his opinion, stopped the problem from worsening.
He said: “I was there inspecting the building when I started hearing gunshots. As a peaceful person and a man under grace, I ordered security personnel that were with me not to respond to the shootings because it will lead to many things which I will not like; they obeyed me and we left the community immediately.”
He would have been killed by a bullet from the thugs, according to a trustworthy source who requested anonymity.
“What happened in Ameke, Ekoli Edda on 26th December 2022 was a clear assassination attempt on myself and the state APC Chairman.”
