Dr. Adaora Umeoji Assumes Role as Zenith Bank’s First Female MD
Dr. Adaora Umeoji, the newly appointed Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, had officially assumed her duties at the bank’s head office in Lagos on Monday.
Excel Magazine International reports that the company announced Umeoji’s assumption of office in a video shared on its Facebook page, captioned, “Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji OON, Group Managing Director / CEO, Zenith Bank Plc, arrives Zenith Bank Head Office in Lagos.”
The company’s secretary, Michael Otu, had earlier confirmed Umeoji’s appointment, which became effective on June 1.
Umeoji succeeds Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose term as GMD ended on May 31.
Before her new role, Umeoji served as the Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank since October 28, 2016, and brings nearly 30 years of banking experience, including 26 years with Zenith Bank.
Indeed, her appointment marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first female Managing Director of Zenith Bank.
