Dedicated to Philanthropy: Imo State Women Association’s Remarkable Journey Since 2010

Ahead of 2024, Imo State Women Association (ISWA) has marked a significant milestone as it celebrated its 13th anniversary with a glamorous Fundraising Gala Night. The event, held at a prestigious venue in Washington DC was attended by prominent guests and dignitaries, highlighting the organization’s dedication to philanthropy and community development, Excel Magazine International reports.

Under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. Hyacinth Ogechukwu Amazu (Akurienne Umuoji), the occasion was graced by his wife, who is also a proud member of the association.

The President of ISWA, Chief Genevieve Ibeh Ugogbuzuo Ochake, delivered a warm welcome address, shedding light on the organization’s noble journey since its establishment on February 7, 2010.

ISWA, a nonprofit organization, consists of accomplished women born or married to Imo State men who migrated to America in search of better opportunities. These dedicated professionals from various fields, including medicine, education, finance, and technology, have formed a tight-knit community focused on empowering Imo State women and improving lives both in Nigeria and the United States.

Education and medical health are the core pillars of ISWA’s vision and mission. Over the years, the association has undertaken numerous impactful projects thanks to the continuous support and assistance of its members and donors.

In Nigeria, ISWA members have taken initiative by building and refurbishing healthcare centers, equipping them with essential medical supplies, and facilitating access to quality healthcare. Additionally, they have implemented sustainable solutions such as boreholes with taps to provide clean water to their communities, thus relieving the burden of water scarcity.

In the realm of education, ISWA has left an indelible mark by renovating schools, providing essential supplies, and incorporating modern technology to enhance the learning environment. These remarkable achievements have positively impacted communities in Nigeria, fostering growth and development.

The dedication of ISWA members extends beyond borders, as they have actively engaged in charitable initiatives in the United States.

ISWA has lent a helping hand to homeless shelters in the District and made generous donations to organizations such as St Ann’s Center for Children, The Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center in Washington DC, and House of Ruth in Baltimore. Through their unwavering commitment, ISWA has made substantial contributions totaling ten thousand dollars to these worthy causes.

During her address, Chief Genevieve Ibeh Ugogbuzuo Ochake expressed her gratitude to the organization’s donors and supporters for their unwavering commitment to the cause of humanity.

She emphasized the importance of their continued support and encouraged them to join ISWA in accomplishing even greater milestones in the future.

The event also served as an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of ISWA’s dedicated executives, who have played instrumental roles in driving the organization forward.

The executive team includes the President; Chief Genevieve Ibeh Ugogbuzuo Ochaket, the Vice President; Lolo Rita Chioma Abubugo, the General Secretary; Mrs. Stella Odum Udonwanyi, the Assistant General Secretary; Lolo Ekwu Eze Odibeze and Financial Secretary; Mrs. Gloria Ukegbu Obiageriaku.

Other key members include the Assistant Financial Secretary; Mrs. Joy Nnenna Ugorji, PHR Gorgeous, Ada Nwere Ugwu, the Treasurer; Princess Ezinne Lady Jovita Ike FNP-BC Nwachinenere, the Public Relations Officer; Ezinne Lolo Uloma Mbalewe-Nwogwu Emedobi Ahu Chuhwu and the Cultural Director; Lolo Uche M. Kemakolam Ugodiya.

 

Looking ahead to 2024, the organization’s projections paint a picture of expanded outreach and increased efficacy. ISWA aims to bolster its educational initiatives, focusing on empowering communities through knowledge and skill development. The organization also anticipates scaling up its healthcare efforts, with ambitious plans to enhance medical infrastructure in underserved regions.
