Davido: Why Asake Collabo With Me on Timeless

Afrobeats sensation, Davido, has opened up about his collaboration with rising star, Asake, on his new album, ‘Timeless’.
In a recent interview that has since gone viral, Davido revealed on Friday that he has always been a huge admirer of Asake’s unique style and narrative approach, which he felt would perfectly complement his own creative direction.
According to the singer, he reached out to Olamide, the CEO of YBNL Nation, which Asake is signed to, in order to secure the collaboration.
“I dm the bossman, Baddo, I didn’t write Asake first o, I went to my brother first,” Davido said, explaining that he approached Olamide first and explained his vision for the song.
Fortunately, Olamide was more than willing to make it happen, and even helped with the songwriting process. “Who has Asake verse? I am not sure Asake would even give anybody Asake verse,” Davido joked, highlighting the rapper’s unique approach to his craft.
Despite the challenges, Davido and his team were able to work out the logistics, and Asake was able to record his verse with the help of Olamide, who was present during the recording session.
“Asake loves recording when Baddo is there, like presently there, so Asake said he wants Baddo to be there with him when he is Voicing. Baddo is also one of the writers of the song as well,” Davido revealed.
The result of their collaboration was nothing short of amazing, with Asake delivering a standout performance that left Davido and his team thoroughly impressed.
“Asake sent the verse and it was fire, I said Baddo nice one, so we signed, cleared and delivered,” Davido said, beaming with pride.
With the release of his new album, ‘Timeless’, it’s clear that Davido is at the top of his game, and his collaboration with Asake is just one of the many highlights of the project.
