Davido, Osimhen, Afolayan, Others Bag Nigerian National Honors

Davido, Kunle Afolayan, and 337 other distinguished Nigerians have been officially announced as recipients of the highly esteemed 2023 national awards, demonstrating their significant contributions in their respective fields.

The Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, in an official statement released on Sunday, unveiled the list of deserving individuals across various categories who have been honored with this prestigious recognition.

Among the notable recipients is David Adeleke, widely recognized as Davido, who has been bestowed with the esteemed Officer Of The Order of The Niger (OON) title. This accolade serves as a testament to Davido’s remarkable achievements and invaluable impact in the entertainment industry.

Another luminary recognized for their exceptional accomplishments is the acclaimed filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who has been honored with the OON distinction. Afolayan’s exceptional talent and numerous accolades exemplify his immense contributions to the Nigerian film industry.

Victor Osimhen, a prominent Nigerian footballer, has also been recognized for his remarkable achievements in the sport. Osimhen’s outstanding performance on the field led Napoli to clinch their first Serie A title in 33 years, earning him the esteemed title of Member of The Order of Federal Republic (MFR).

Terry Waya, a well-known socialite and successful businessman, has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to society. Waya has been awarded in the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) cadre, showcasing his significant impact in the business and social spheres.

All recipients of the 2023 national awards are requested to submit a soft copy of their citation or resume to the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs by May 31. Additionally, recipients are expected to be physically present for the collection of their well-deserved medals and certificates on June 1, 2023, further adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
