Davido Expresses Confidence Ahead of 66th Grammy Awards
Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has voiced his belief that he is deserving of past Grammy wins.
The acclaimed singer, who had previously been overlooked by the Recording Academy, secured three nominations for the 66th Grammys.
In a recent interview with France 24 leading up to the prestigious event, Davido expressed gratitude for his first-ever nomination and the unexpected trifecta of nominations.
Reflecting on his album “Timeless,” Davido emphasized the dedication and patience invested in its creation, asserting his belief in deserving numerous Grammy accolades.
Addressing the Recording Academy directly, Davido remarked, “Shoutout to the Recording Academy. This is my first nomination ever. So it’s crazy to get three at once. We worked really hard on this album [‘Timeless’]. I was just really patient. So, if you ask me if I deserve Grammys in the past, I already need 20 Grammys. But, like I said, God’s timing is the best. We will see what happens.”
The 66th Grammy Awards, scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles, will witness Davido’s album “Timeless” competing in the Best Global Music Album category, with tracks “Feel” and “Unavailable” vying for recognition in the Best Global Music Performance and Best African Music Performance categories, respectively.
