Criticism Arises as Celestial Church Invites Pasuma, Portable for Celebration
The Celestial Church of Christ, Land of Goshen Cathedral, located in the Kosofe area of Lagos, is under scrutiny after inviting Fuji musician Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and controversial street singer Habib Okikiola, widely known as Portable, to perform at its 7th Year Anniversary Ankara/Praise Night on December 15, 2023.
A flyer posted on the church’s Facebook page announced the performers, including Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma (Oganla), Habeeb Olalomi (Portable), May-Shua, and Evangelist Sunday GP (De Governor).
However, this decision has sparked criticism from netizens who took to the comment section to express their disapproval, branding the musicians as ‘worldly’ choices for a church event.
Adeoluwa Adewole commented, “This church needs to be called to order; this is nonsense.”
Similarly, BU KO LA expressed, “This is totally nonsense,” while Onaolapo Benjamin questioned the authenticity of the information, stating, “I hope this is not real. If not, what is happening in the body of Christ? The devil has taken control of that church. God will restore it in Jesus’ mighty name, amen.”
Ashem Salem Timothy speculated, “The pastor wants to trend and get attention for his church, and he’s getting it.”
Bolanle Bamidele Adewuyi shared her disappointment, writing, “This is disheartening. Is this what you turn the Church of God into? It’s hilarious.”
Eri Tunmise criticized the choice of artists, saying, “I was just laughing when I saw this flyer. Why would you call a hip-hop and Fuji artist for a praise night? Are there no gospel singers anymore? We are enticing with worldly stuff. This nonsense can only happen at a white garment church because other churches like Baptist, Redeemed, CAC can never do this. Hmm! The end of the world.”
