Chess Master Tunde Onakoya Receives Davido’s Support at Times Square
Afrobeat sensation, David Adeleke, known as Davido, has demonstrated his support for chess master, Tunde Onakoya’s quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon.
Davido joined other supporters at Times Square in New York City to cheer on Onakoya.
A post on Onakoya’s social media account showcased him wearing Davido’s “30BG” chain, with the caption expressing gratitude for Davido’s support and urging continued streaming, sharing, and donations for the cause.
At the time of reporting, Onakoya had exceeded 40 hours of his 58-hour chess marathon, expressing appreciation for the overwhelming global support received thus far.
Excel Magazine International reports that Onakoya, alongside his American counterpart Shawn Martinez, aims to surpass the current Guinness World Record set at 56 hours, 09 minutes, and 37 seconds by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad on November 11, 2018.
