Charly Boy Raises Alarm Over Scarcity of New Naira Notes

Charly Boy, the iconic Nigerian musician, has expressed concern about the shortage of the newly redesigned N1000, N500, and N200 notes in the country.
The veteran artist, whose real name is Charles Oputa, recently took to his Twitter page to draw attention to the issue, stating that he has noticed that only the old versions of the notes are being circulated since the Supreme Court’s ruling in March.
It should be recalled that the apex court had ruled that both the old and new versions of the Naira notes would be legal tender until December 31, 2023.
Despite this, Charly Boy’s observation suggests that the new notes are not as readily available as they should be.
In a bid to further highlight the issue, the musician shared a photo on Twitter with the caption, “I nor dey see new naira notes again oo,” which has since sparked reactions from Nigerians across different social media platforms.
The scarcity of the new Naira notes is a matter of concern for many Nigerians, as it could have far-reaching implications for the economy.
However, with the attention that Charly Boy’s tweet has drawn to the issue, it is hoped that the relevant authorities will take necessary steps to ensure that the redesigned notes are made more readily available to the public.
