Born on December 20, 1932, as Ferdinand Maduakolam Alilonu, he adopted the name Bebless, meaning “To be blessed,” as his confirmation name. Throughout his illustrious career with the Nigerian Ports Authority, he ascended to the highest echelons of the civil service, earning accolades for his dedication and service.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions, the federal government sponsored him for further studies abroad, marking a pivotal chapter in his professional journey.
Retiring in 1984, Eze Bebless Ferdinand Maduakolam Alilonu continued his commitment to service and spirituality. In 1989, he was initiated into the noble order of the Knight of St. Mulumba, a testament to his unwavering faith and values. A man of deep religious conviction, he maintained a personal chapel in his home, where he devoted early mornings and evenings to prayer and scripture reading, setting aside at least an hour each day.
In 1983, his community recognized his leadership qualities by installing him as the Akarugo of Obohia. Subsequently, in 2003, Eze Bebless Ferdinand Maduakolam Alilonu made history as the first traditional ruler of the newly established Umuihuocha Autonomous Community Obohia, Ahiazu Mbaise LGA in Imo State.
