President Muhammadu Buhari has declined assent to five more bills sent to him by the National Assembly.

This decision to reserve his signatures on the bills to the Senate was communicated by the President on Wednesday through a letter to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki which was read at the plenary.

The affected Bills are Climate Change Bill, Chartered Institute of Pension Practitioners Bill, Nigeria Film Corporation Bill, Digital Rights and Freedom Bill and Immigration (Amendment) Bill.

President Buhari cited different reasons for the rejected bills.

With this development, the total number of bills rejected by the President since July 2015 now adds up to a total of 26.

Meanwhile, the Senate has adjourned plenary for two weeks to avail lawmakers ample time to work on the 2019 appropriation bill.
