The Nigerian Senate has announced that the budget presentation event will not last long and probably an hour as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This statement was made by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan on Wednesday while presenting the conditions that will guide the budget presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Senate President said that social distancing will be maintained and face masks on. There will be reduction in the number of persons attending the event unlike the past years. He further stressed that those playing key roles in the budget presentation will be allowed inside.
Presentation of the budget is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Thursday). The president is expected to present the budget at a joint sitting of the lawmakers of both chambers.
Before the President submits the 2021 budget, the Senate is expected to consider and pass the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).
