Breaking: Supreme court strikes out Magnus Abe’s suit on Rivers APC

 The Supreme Court has canceled the suit filed by Senator Magnus Abe on the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state.

In a unanimous judgment read on Monday, April 8, by the acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Mohammed, the apex court dismissed the application on the grounds that it lacks credibility.

Asides from this, the court also stated that the suit was filled with incompetencies and a gross violation of orders 2 rule 8 of the supreme court rules. It held that once a notice of appeal has been found to be flawed, amended con no longer be made.

Earlier on, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused the minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, and the minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, of plans to ruin the victory secured by the party in the just concluded Rivers state gubernatorial election. The PDP made claims that the minister of transportation and his colleague at the justice ministry were planing to cause constitutional crisis in the state.

Excel breaking news also gathered that the minister of justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN), has told the PDP not to link him with any alleged plot to void the Rivers state gubernatorial election. Malami on  his part has dismissed the allegations by the PDP that he was working in collusion with the transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi to void the result of the last governorship election in Rivers state
