The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, are set to embark on a visit to Nigeria in May 2024.
Excel Magazine International gathered that the visit is to foster diplomatic relations and furthering the cause of the Invictus Games.
During their stay, the royal couple will engage with service members and participate in various cultural activities, reiterating their commitment to supporting wounded, injured, and sick military personnel worldwide.
Prince Harry, known for his dedication to veterans’ welfare, notably founded the Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event aimed at providing a pathway to recovery for service personnel.
The Games, which saw participation from 21 nations and over 500 athletes in its previous edition, including Nigeria, serve as a platform for raising awareness and recognition for the sacrifices made by military personnel.
Nigeria, which made a remarkable debut at the Invictus Games with notable achievements, including gold and bronze medals, aims to further strengthen its presence in the global event.
The impending royal visit is expected to bolster Nigeria’s position within the Invictus community and explore the possibility of hosting the prestigious event in the coming years.
