The Kano state Commissioner of Police,Mohammed Wakili has been relieved of his duty while Balarabe Sule is to take over from him with immediate effect.
Just a few days ago, the news broke that the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Nasiru Gawuna, alongside the State Commissioner for Local Government, Murtala Sule-Garo and chairman of Nassarawa Local Government, Lamin Sani, were involved in result sheet snatching at Airport Road collation centre around 3am on Monday, a situation that led to a violent unrest in the area.
It was reported that party agents attacked the trio, beating them severely before the police were alerted and rescued the Deputy Governor. The Commissioner and the Local Government Chairman on their part were arrested.
On Tuesday, during a press conference held in the state to ease the tension over the inconclusive governorship election, Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II commended Wakili, for maintaining peace and order in the state.
Mr Wakili is known for his valiant attributes and his apathy towards drug abuse and political thuggery in the state and citizens will agree that he is arguably the most efficient Police Commissioner ever posted to the state.
