BREAKING: Legendary Nigerian Singer and Actress, Onyeka Onwenu Passes Away at 72
Onyeka Onwenu, a celebrated Nigerian singer and actress, has reportedly passed away at the age of 72, gathered Excel Magazine International.
Onwenu is said to have died on Tuesday night at the Reddington Hospital in Lagos after collapsing at the birthday party of Mrs. Stella Okoli.
According to TheNiche, an eyewitness at the party confirmed the tragic news.
“It is very sad. Onyeka Onwenu just performed at the birthday of Mrs. Stella Okoli today (Tuesday, July 30, 2024), and after performing, she slumped. She was taken to Reddington Hospital and she couldn’t make it,” the eyewitness stated.
As of press time, Onwenu’s family has yet to officially announce her death.
Onyeka Onwenu will be remembered for her influential music career, with notable albums such as In The Morning Light and Dancing In The Sun. She also featured in prominent films, including Half of a Yellow Sun and Lionheart.
