BREAKING: Appeal Court Releases New CTC on Kano Election
The Court of Appeal has responded to public concern by releasing a revised Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Kano State Governorship Election Ruling, Excel Magazine International can report.
In this updated document, the court has adjusted the original award of N1 million, which was initially granted to the All Progressive Congress (APC) against NNPP Governor Yusuf.
Justice Moore Aseimo Abraham Adumen, delivering the ruling, announced the dismissal of Governor Yusuf’s appeal.
Emphasizing a crucial legal principle, Justice Adumen stated that a person must be a bona fide member of a political party before being validly sponsored as a candidate for a general election.
The court deemed the initial sponsorship of Governor Yusuf by NNPP as a nullity, highlighting the importance of party membership in candidacy.
Justice Adumen underscored the legal maxim “Ex nihilo nihil fit” (From nothing, nothing comes), illustrating that sponsorship without prior membership is inherently flawed.
The case serves as a stark example of a political party or its members acting with impunity, presenting a candidate for a significant election without verifying membership—a violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
