The Bayelsa state government has announced a thanksgiving service to celebrate the annual thanksgiving day event of the state.
The event which will happen on November 1st and 2nd will have present the general overseer of the Redeemed Christain Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
According to information obtained by EXCEL MAGAZINE INTERNATIONAL, the first day event will hold at Dr Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenogoa while the second day will hold at Magnificient Ecumenical Centre, Igbogene. The event will start by 4pm and 9am respectively.
The governor of the state, Senator Duoye Diri will be at the event while Apostle Zilly Aggrey will also minister at the event.
REVIEWING GOVERNOR DUOYE DIRI’S SUCCESSFUL ADMINISTRATION
Senator Duoye Diri is the 5th executive governor of Bayelsa state and hails from Sampou in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government. He also holds a Bachelors of Education degree for Political Science from the University of Portharcourt.
His emergence as the governor of Bayelsa state is not his first political experience, he became the Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Bayelsa under the administration of Goodluck Jonathan, he was also member of the governing council at the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.
In 2012, Senator Diri became the Deputy Chief of Staff to then governor of Bayelsa state Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.
He has gone on to make impacts in the state before his eventual emergence as the governor of the state.
Duoye Diri has continued to enjoy such grace that his emergence has been tagged as genuinely divine, he also surmounted a sack by the Tribunal to win election at the Court of Appeal.
Senator Duoye has continually assured Bayelsans that his administration will not relent to make investment in every sector towards development.
He believes that his administration can help create a Bayelsa state where every dreamer will not just dream but will achieve goals.
He has begun a diversification process for the state’s economy especially leveraging on Agriculture. Bayelsa is a crude-oil rich state in Nigeria, despite this he strongly believes that over-reliance of Crude-Oil would be detrimental for the state. His handling of the Covid-19 pandemic is also worthy of mention, distribution of palliatives were done in the interest of the people and without bias.
The administration of Senator Duoye Diri also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a private agricultural company to train youth in the area of agriculture, he believes that his administration is prosperity tenure and at such this should be felt by even the youth in the state.
Governor Duoye for instance showed his love for Agriculture starting with his own cabinet and by instructing his commissioners and all members of the state Executive council to cultivate their own farms.
A great example of the administration’s love for the people is the insistence of the governor on Primary Health Centre in every ward in the state. According to the state’s commissioner for health, Dr. Pabara Newton Igwele stated this while revealing the many efforts of the current administration in ensuring better governance in Bayelsa state.
When the governor announced those who will work with him, he also did not fall short of expectations showing clearly he knows what he wants and how to achieve them.
The appointment of Chief Benson Agadaga as the Chief of Staff in the state has yielded positive results. A vastly experienced personality Agadaga has not hidden the fact that the current administration is for the people and not for selfish gains.
During interviews with journalists he consistently noted that there are well outlined plans to aid success in the state.
Such is the kind of support needed by governor Diri Duoye. The dynamic governor also brought in a former speaker of the House of Assembly in Bayelsa to serve as the Secretary to the state governor, with all of these experiences responsible for successes of the current tenure.
Notable of mention the deputy governor of Bayelsa state, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo who has shown himself as a worthy supporter to Senator Duoye Diri, at every opportunity he expresses the commitment of the current tenure to development of the state. His experience and exposure inclusive of understanding the values of great governance speaks volume.
By and large, with the celebration of the Thanksgiving event, Senator Duoye Diri has many things to be thankful of, in the area of administration and beyond administration. As he rightly said “God is behind his tenure”.
