ASUU Strike: Oau Management hell bent, says no going back on the Exam Date

Student Express Uncertainty as ASUU Rages

The Management of the Obafemi Awolowo has said there is no going back on the Examination Date has scheduled for January 14.

This was made known by the Spokesman of the Varsity, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju.

Speaking with the Varsity Spokesman, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, he said “the Examination date still remains the same, we are not going back. The school has a reason for fixing the Examination date. We can’t change the date because of some people”

“The percentage of Lecturers still attending classes are more than those on strike, so why should we shift the Examination date because of some few Lecturers ” he added

As a result of this development students of the varsity has expressed uncertainty over the examination date has the Member of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, has said they would not participate in the examination exercise and any exam conducted by the Varsity is null and void.

Speaking with a student, Ilori Gbemisola, she said “I am confused presently. I don’t know why the school management are doing this. Am not even prepared for any exam because ever since the emergence of the strike we have not had any lectures”

“I have been reading materials alone and I don’t understand because there’s nobody that can explain to us. The Management should have mercy us and they should extend the Academic Calender “

Speaking with another student, Peter Adedayo who pleaded with the federal government that they should do something to the issue on ground and they should settle the striking workers.

In his words, he said “the management should please do something as they shouldn’t let their decisions result to mass failure and our parents won’t want to know what we are facing here”

Also reacting to this, the Branch Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Mr Adeola Egbedokun who told our correspondent that no matter the decision of the Management the exam will not hold as they don’t want the failure of th students.

In his words, he said “our union won’t participate in the scheduled examination. Any exam done by any lecturer is null and void”.

He also urged students of the varsity to boycott the exam.
