ASA Women USA Cancer Coalition Appreciates Partners, Donors After 2019 Cancer Walk

The Anambra State Association, ASA Women USA Cancer Coalition has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to partners and donors who participated in its 2019 Annual 5K Walk for Hope to End Cancer.

The walk, which is the seventh in the series, held on Saturday, May 18th in Maryland, United States of America.

According to a statement signed by Dr (Mrs.) Anthonia Uche Umeh, Founder and National President of the group, more than $16,000 was raised.  “We are truly fortunate to have you as a member of our community fighting together to beat cancer and save lives.

“Please do not make it a one-time donation, continue to donate generously as God would replenish your purse a hundred times over”.

 Breaking down what the funds would be used for, the group said: “50% of the funds you have raised will help support the hospital bills of ASA Women USA Coordinated Post Medical Mission Breast, Cervical & Prostate Cancers and Maternal Gynecological Surgical Services to our mission patients that were carried out at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, General Hospital, Onitsha and St. Charles Borromeo Specialist hospital, Onitsha in Anambra State.

“The other 50% of the funds raised will support the building of the Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Center Research,  support the Ourisman Breast Health Center, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington D.C  to continue to eliminate barriers to cancer care by providing free breast cancer screenings, patient navigators, access to diagnosis and treatment services, and transportation assistance to DC area women in need and to support the 2020 ASA Women USA Cancer and Maternal Health Medical Mission to Nigeria.

Giving a special shout-out to its partners which include Excel Media Global Group, USA, a major media partner for the event, the group also singled out the Special Guest of Honor, His Excellency, Justice Sylvanus Nsofor, Nigerian Ambassador to the United States and the 2019 Grand Marshal, Strayer University, LLC, represented by Dean Camilla Craig, Regional Director, Ashley Collins, Campus Director, Candy Collins and Team Leader Dr. Sussie Okoro.

“We thank you for opening the ceremony through ribbon cutting and shedding some light on cancer and also thank you for your generous donation towards our 2019 cancer advocacy, awareness, education; cancer treatment center research and cancer & maternal health medical mission to the underprivileged men, women & children in Anambra State, Nigeria”, the group added in the statement.

Continuing, the statement reads: “We congratulate our 2019 award recipients in Grand Marshal Trophy, Strayer University, LLC; Project Partnership: Cancer Champion Award, His Excellency, Justice Sylvanus Nsofor, Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, Hon. Justice Peter N. Umeadi, FCIArb, retired Chief Judge of Anambra State and Dr. Miraj Shah-Khan, Medical Mission Breast Surgeon; Cancer Leadership: Community Service Award, Chief, Sir Emmanuel Nwude and Chief, Dr. Stanley Onye. Outstanding Support Merit Award recipients, Mrs. Tina Enweze and Lady Chinyere Gladys Ezeibe. Thanks for your generous donations.
