Angélique Kidjo Takes Africa to the World Again, Bags Laureate of Polar Music Prize

The one and only Angélique Kidjo, a true icon of the global music scene, has just been awarded the prestigious Polar Music Prize – the highest honor in the world of music!
And that’s not all: Kidjo shares this incredible accolade with none other than Chris Blackwell, the legendary founder of Island Records who discovered her and helped launch her career.
But wait, there’s more: Kidjo’s co-laureate is none other than the great composer Arvo Pärt – what an amazing trio of talent! It’s truly a momentous occasion, and Kidjo herself couldn’t be prouder, as she expressed on her verified Facebook page:

Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo was born July 14, 1960. Popularly known as Angélique Kidjo, is a Beninese-French singer-songwriter, actress, and activist noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos.
Kidjo was born into a family of performing artists. Her father was a musician, and her mother worked as a choreographer and theatre director.
Amazingly, Kidjo has won five Grammy Awards.
