Amid Road Repairs , Flood Take Over Ile-Ife Communities

Despite the ongoing road rehabilitation in Ile Ife, Osun state, road users, sellers and community stakeholders have expressed fear as flood rocks community.

At the late hours of today residents, shop owners and roads users were chased out of their homes as an heavy flood hit the community.

Speaking with a road user, Sunday Fesobi who stays at the Lagere axis of Ile Ife, he said ” we are always scared anytime there’s an heavy downpour of rain. We can hardly use our vehicle because the flood most time submerges our car”

“We felt the ongoing road repairs would bring smile to our face but its not what we expected”

Speaking with another resident, Ayobami Sikiru, she said ” We are tired of this incessant flood and we have pleaded to the Osun State Government to do something about it but they did not yield to our pleas”

” Anytime there’s an heavy rain like this, we can’t stay in our house because the flood has taken over”

Speaking with a shop owner who pleaded anonymity because she doesn’t want her name to be in print, told our reporter the goods she loses to the heavy flooding per year.

The drink seller who has a shop at lagere, Ile Ife recounts her ordeal to our reporter and also expressed fear to another battle in this year.

In her words, “Though there’s an ongoing road construction but it has done more harm than good”

Efforts to reach the Chairman of Ife Central Local Government, Mr Elugbeju Olayera proved abortive as when our reporter tried reaching him at the point of filing the report, he promised to call back but he hasn’t called returned the reporters call

It should be recalled that the different platforms has reported the pain of the Ile Ife community over incessant flood but the Osun Government has kept mum over the reportage
