American Actor, Johnny Wactor Shot Dead in Los Angeles
American actor, Johnny Wactor, best known for his role in the US soap opera “General Hospital,” was shot dead in Los Angeles during an attempted theft of his car’s catalytic converter, Excel Magazine International reports.
The 37-year-old actor suffered fatal injuries after confronting three men who were trying to steal the catalytic converter from his parked vehicle. Wactor was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.
His agent, David Shaul, expressed his grief, telling Variety that Wactor was an “outstanding human being” who “would literally give you the shirt off his back.” Shaul added, “After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”
Wactor’s mother, Scarlett, shared details of the incident with NBC4.
She said her son was returning to his car after work when he discovered a man tampering with it. Believing the car was being towed and not sensing any immediate danger, he approached the man to inquire about the situation. He was then shot immediately. The suspect fled with two other men.
Scarlett described her son’s killing as “senseless.”
Excel Magazine International observes that catalytic converters have become valuable targets for thieves due to the precious metals they contain, which can be sold for a significant profit.
The incident occurred at the corner of West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street in downtown LA. As of now, no arrests have been made.
A tribute from the producers of “General Hospital” praised South Carolina-born Wactor as “truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day.”
In addition to his two-year stint on the show, Wactor also starred in the 2013 NBC series “Siberia” and appeared in two episodes of HBO’s “Westworld.”
