The highly anticipated 9th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), an esteemed entertainment extravaganza in Africa, is poised to captivate audiences tonight, May 20, 2023, at the prestigious Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.

The grandeur of the evening will commence with the glitz and glamour of the red carpet at 4pm, paving the way for the main event at 7pm Nigerian time.

Taking center stage as the hosts for the red carpet affair will be the charismatic quartet of Toke Makinwa, Uti Nwachukwu, Sika Osei, and VJ Adams, who will engage in lively conversations with the attending celebrities.

Enthusiastic viewers will once again have the opportunity to cast their votes for their favorite male and female best-dressed celebrities, following the popular tradition set in the previous edition.

The organizers have placed great emphasis on punctuality, urging all guests to be seated by 7pm, as the enthralling event will be broadcasted live across all Africa Magic channels.

Steering the evening’s proceedings with grace and charm, IK Osakioduwa and Zozi Tunzi, the reigning Miss Universe 2019 from South Africa, have been unveiled as the esteemed hosts for the night, promising an unforgettable night of glitz and entertainment.

Noteworthy achievements from the previous edition include the triumph of Stan Nze and Osas Ighodaro, who clinched the coveted titles of Best Actor and Actress for Drama at the 2022 AMVCA.

Leading the pack with an impressive number of nominations, ‘Anikulapo’ stands tall with 16 nominations, closely followed by ‘Brotherhood’ and ‘Shanty Town,’ each receiving 11 nominations. Among the contenders for the prestigious Best Overall Movie category are ‘Anikulapo’ by Kunle Afolayan, ‘King of Thieves’ by Femi Adebayo, ‘Brother’ by Jade Osiberu, and ‘Battle on Buka Street’ by Funke Akindele, alongside three other remarkable films.
