African Import – Export bank (AFREXIM BANK) is set to raise up to 5 billion dollars (€3.5 billion) in a bid to facilitate the provision of covid-19 vaccines to African countries.
The head of Africa’s disease control arm, confirmed this . The move is to make covid-19 vaccines readily available to all African countries.
Any funds raised by Afrexim bank could be put into the covax vaccines procurement pool, spearheaded by the World Health Organization (WHO), or directly spent with drug makers to get the vaccines.
