AFCON: Osimhen Faces Drug Test
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has selected Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen for a random drug test following his standout performance for Nigeria in their 2-0 victory over Cameroon.
Osimhen’s dynamic contribution was pivotal to the Super Eagles’ success, as he aggressively pursued possession and orchestrated an assist for Ademola Lookman’s opening goal.
Throughout the match, he consistently applied pressure on Cameroon’s defence, demonstrating relentless energy until his substitution with approximately five minutes remaining.
Excel Magazine International observes CAF’s decision to subject Osimhen to a random drug test stems from his remarkable on-field performance.
Typically, players are chosen for drug testing through a lottery system encompassing all players in the matchday squad.
However, CAF may opt for random selection if they observe any irregularities in a player’s conduct during or after the game.
In addition to Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho was also selected for a drug test despite not making an appearance on the field.
