31 Passengers Have Been Reported Missing By The Police, Soldiers And Vigilantes In The Edo Train Attack
No fewer than 32 train passengers have been discovered missing by the soldiers, police and vigilantes in the recent train attack at Tom Ikimi Train Station, Igueben, Edo State, on Saturday.
Report has shown names of victims of this attack, which includes, the Manager of the station, Godwin Okpe and head of security of the station, who was identified as Ikhayere and 29 others. Punch reported.
The Tom Ikimi Train Station, Igueben, Edo State, attack on Saturday, came 10 months after the Abuja-Kaduna train service attack by bandits, which resulted in the killing of 14 passengers and abducting 65 others. Though, it was later reported that people were released after months in captivity and payment of ransoms.
It has been confirmed by the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Nigeria Railway Corporation, Fidel Okhiria that security personnels are still tracking the abductors who are reported to be armed herdsmen.
“The police, vigilante and Army are all after the people in the bush; that’s all I can say. There are certain things that we need to clear before we issue a statement.” Said Fidel Okhiria
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, also confirmed the efforts channeled to rescue the abductees by security personnels.
“We will give necessary support to Edo State Police command and Railway Police Command on the rescue of the abducted victims; efforts are being intensified to rescue them and arrest the culprits,’’ he assured.
