3 Tinubu’s Ministerial Nominees Fail Nigerian Senate Confirmation Over …

The Nigerian Senate on Monday confirmed a total of 45 out of the 48 ministerial nominees sent by President Bola Tinubu. However, three nominees failed to secure confirmation due to various reasons, Excel Magazine International has gathered.
Notably, the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, Senator Abubakar Danlandi from Taraba State, and former Nexim Bank MD, Stella Oketette from Delta State, were not included in the approved list.
Recall, during the screening process, several petitions were presented against Nasir El-Rufai, including one from Senator Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West).
Karimi raised concerns over the issue of insecurity in Southern Kaduna, urging the consideration of the petition in the screening exercise. However, the Senate President declined to accept the petition at that time, stating that petitions would be referred to relevant authorities later.
Excel Magazine International was further told that there was a court judgment against Senator Abubakar Danlandi restricting him from holding public office for ten years, which seemingly affected his confirmation.
Regarding former Nexim Bank MD, Stella Oketette, there were also petitions raised against her, including allegations of non-disclosure of assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Despite the unsuccessful confirmation for these three nominees, other senators commended Nasir El-Rufai’s competence and acknowledged his achievements as a former governor.
The Senate’s approval and confirmation process saw 45 nominees successfully pass through, signifying the formation of a significant part of President Tinubu’s cabinet.
